D. Scot Loyd - CGFM, CPA, CFE, CGMA, CNC

Owner

Scot has over 40 years of audit and accounting experience gained with audit organizations. He has operated a diversified governmental practice relating to federal, states, counties, cities, schools, colleges, Single Audits of not-for-profits and governmental entities, governmental software development and consultation on other miscellaneous entities. Scot has been involved as a presenter at conferences with various organizations for many years. He has extensively worked in Federal, State, and Local government and auditing standards committee activities, including serving on multiple committees and boards with GPAC, PEEC, PCPS, KSCPA, MAIGAF, KMAAG, and GFOA to list a few. He is an Associate member of the Kansas Banker’s Association and very active in his community and church. Scot has been a board member and huddle leader for FCA since 1997, inspiring and encouraging young athlete’s faith.


Prior to opening Loyd Group on January 1, 2022, Scot was a Member/Owner with the firm Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC of McPherson, Kansas since January 1 1990. From June 1986 to December 1989, Scot was a staff accountant/manager with this same firm. Previously, Scot was a staff accountant with the firm of Yerkes and Michels, CPA’s in Independence, Kansas from May 1983 to June 1986. He was also an intern with Yerkes and Michels, CPA’s for the summer of 1982. Scot graduated from Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS in 1983 with a B.A. in Accounting.

Christina J. Henson - CPA, CGMA

Senior Manager

Joined Loyd Group: January 2022


With over 20 years of experience in the field, Christina holds a Master's degree in Accounting from Kansas State University.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Christina served as a Staff Accountant at Bartlett, Settle, and Edgerle from 2001 to 2010. She further honed her skills as a Senior Audit Manager at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC from 2010 to 2021.


Christina specializes in auditing community colleges, school districts, cities, other state and local governments, and not-for-profit entities.  She also specialized in single audits. She is a licensed CPA and a member of AICPA and the Kansas Society of CPAs.

John Regier - CPA

Manager

Joined Loyd Group: June 2023


John holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from McPherson College.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, John was a Staff Accountant Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC for 5 years.   Then in 2018, he became the Director of Finance at Derby Public Schools, from which he brings extensive experience in the area of school finance, including preparation of budgets. 



John heads up our Budget Team alongside Scot, contributing his expertise with school districts, which adds significant value to our consulting work at Loyd Group. He is a member of the AICPA and KSCPA and holds the CPA designation.

Hope Rein

In-Charge Associate

Joined Loyd Group: January 2022


Hope holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Hope served as an intern and then Senior Associate at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC from 2016 to 2021.


Hope specializes in auditing community colleges, school districts, cities, other state and local governments, and not-for-profit entities. She also specialized in single audits. She is an Associate member of the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (KSCPA).

Cindy Ames

Senior Associate

Joined Loyd Group: January 2022


Cindy holds an Associate’s of Arts and an Associate’s of Applied Science in Business Management from Hutchinson Community College.


Prior to joining Loyd Group, Cindy gained valuable experience as a Mortgage Processor at Members Mortgage Services for two years and as Administrative Staff at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC for four years.


Cindy is a dedicated professional with a strong background in auditing and is committed to delivering exceptional results.

Lauren Janzer - CPA

Senior Associate / Finance

Joined Loyd Group: May 2022


Lauren holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance from McPherson College.


Prior to joining Loyd Group, she has previous experience as an intern and the Associate at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC from 2017 to 2021. Her areas of expertise include payroll and bookkeeping.



Lauren plays a key role in helping the business side of Loyd Group run smoothly, ensuring that financial processes are efficient and compliant. She is a member of the AICPA and the Kansas Society of CPAs and holds a CPA certification.

Carlotta Sunderland - CPA

Senior Associate

Joined Loyd Group: January 2022


Carlotta holds a Master of Science in Politics, Economics, and Philosophy from the University of Hamburg, Germany, with additional graduate-level accountancy education from Washburn School of Business and Kansas State University.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Carlotta’s experience includes working as an Advisory & Audit Associate at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd for two years, specializing in federal grant consulting, with a particular focus on the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF). Carlotta then took the leading role with RESCUE clients when joining Loyd Group.


Carlotta is a licensed CPA in the State of Maine and a member of the AICPA and KSCPA.

Darbi Ahlquist

Associate

Joined Loyd Group: October 3, 2024


Darbi earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from Kansas State University.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, she worked as a Staff Accountant at Sink Gordon Accountants & Advisors, LLP.  Darbi also has experience in management at Bourbon & Baker, where she worked for four years.


Darbi specializes in governmental auditing in her role as an Associate Accountant.

Nancy Bieberly

Associate

Joined Loyd Group: February 2022


Nancy brings a diverse professional background to the team. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Hays State University.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Nancy gained valuable experience in the mortgage industry as a Mortgage Loan Production/Closer at Members Mortgage Services, LLC for 12 years. She also has experience as an Orthopedic Coder-Biller at Pinnacle Sports Medicine.



Nancy specializes in Student Financial Aid and College Audits, and is a member of AICPA and ACFE.

Tiffany Jeffrey, CMC

Associate

Joined Loyd Group: January 2023


Tiffany holds a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) certification from the Institute of International Municipal Clerks (IIMC).


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Tiffany served as the City Clerk for the City of Marion for eight years, where she developed expertise in the City government industry and budgeting. She also brings four years of experience as an Office Assistant, AP Clerk, and Court Clerk for the City of Marion.



Tiffany’s experience plays a key role on our Budget Team, assisting with budgeting processes for local municipalities. She also contributes to our city administration consulting efforts, helping ensure effective operations for clients. She is a member of the Institute of International Municipal Clerks (IIMC).

Emily Mankins

Associate

Joined Loyd Group: September 2022


Emily holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Friends University.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Emily gained valuable experience as an Associate at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC for two years. She also owned and operated Blue Willow Spa for six years, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.



Emily has assisted with our RESCUE clients for ARPA consulting, helping them navigate the complexities of the American Rescue Plan Act. She also assists with the firm’s audits.

Abigail Palmer

Audit Assistant

Joined Loyd Group: May 2023


Abigail is currently pursuing a degree at Kansas Wesleyan University, with an expected graduation in 2025.


Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Abigail gained valuable experience in customer service and financial transactions through her roles as a Bank Teller at First Commerce Bank and a Cashier at Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store.



Abigail began her journey with Loyd Group as an intern and now works as an Audit Assistant, primarily focusing on budgets. During the summer, Abigail is involved with our Budget Team, working with cities and counties to prepare their annual budgets.

Baily Ruxlow

Audit Assistant

Baily holds an Associate's Degree in Accounting from St. Cloud Technical and Community College.



Prior to joining the Loyd Group, Baily honed her customer service and communication skills for two years as a Receptionist at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC.  She currently assists with the audits, focusing on organizational and administrative tasks.

Melissa England, SHRM-CP

HR & Administration Manager

Joined Loyd Group: March 2022


Melissa brings a wealth of experience in Human Resources to the team. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Human Resource Management and a minor in Healthcare Management from Wichita State University.


Melissa has expertise in HR generalist functions, HRIS systems, payroll management, business administration, policy development, compliance, and regulatory matters. She is a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Central Kansas SHRM Chapter.

Grace Pauli

Administrative Assistant

Grace specializes in administration, invoicing, and event organization. Her organizational skills and attention to detail support the firm’s smooth daily operations.


Grace is committed to providing exceptional service to both the team and clients, contributing to the overall success of Loyd Group. She also handles the planning and organization of our KMAAG seminars each year, ensuring the events run smoothly and efficiently.
